Big Brothers/Big Sisters provides adult role models to children 6 to 13 years old from single parent families. The volunteer initiates consistent contact three to six hours a week, one-to-one with a child for a minimum of one year. The Volunteer provides positive social, recreational, cultural and interpersonal activities for the child. A case manager provides supervision of the match in order to ensure that the children's needs are being met.

The primary funding for Big Brothers/Big Sisters comes from an annual fund raiser, Bowl For Kids’ Sake, the United Way of Erie County, and Erie County Office of Children & Youth.
